The Scoundrel’s Process

Film props weren’t just designed.

They were assembled.

And that’s where the fun Begins!

I’ve spent over a decade studying and recreating the DL-44 as it appeared across not only the original Star Wars films but every Star Wars film to date—breaking down how each version was built, modified, and evolved during production. Not just how it looked, but how it was actually put together on set.

Because no two versions were ever truly the same.

Forensic Reconstruction

These aren’t generic replicas.

Each build is based on a specific configuration — defined by its exact combination of scope, mount geometry, flash hider, and greeblie layout. Every detail is pulled from screen references, archival photography, and years of comparison work.

The goal isn’t just accuracy.

It’s identity.

To capture the difference between a blaster that looks right — and one that is right.

Elite Replicas Built Like the Real Thing

The original props weren’t single pieces.

They were assemblies of parts.

That same philosophy drives every ELITE replica designed and built here.

Each blaster is designed from the ground up in CAD and constructed using multi-part FDM printing, allowing for mechanical assembly instead of a solid, simplified form.

The result:

  • Functional trigger, hammer, bolt, sight slide and safety
  • Internal spring systems for realistic mechanical feedback
  • See through scopes with glass lens and reticles
  • Authentic and accurate stamping on each individual Mauser and component replica parts – as seen on the actual film props themselves
  • Weighted components for authentic balance and in-hand feel

These are built to feel like they could have come off the prop master’s table.

Three Ways to Own the DL-44

Every build is offered in three distinct formats, depending on how you want to experience it:

Elite Replica Series

The most complete version—fully assembled with functional moving parts, internal mechanisms, and the highest level of accuracy possible. Built for collectors who want the full experience.

Static Replica  “The Perfect Silhouette” Series
A full-scale replica focused purely on the iconic silhouette. No moving parts, no weathering, no prop-accurate imperfections — just the clean, idealized form of each variant, leveled and centered, exactly as these blasters would have looked coming straight off a BlastTech assembly line.

Mini DL-44’s “Desktop” Series
A compact, 1:2 scale version of the silhouette builds. Designed for display, collecting, and everyday handling while maintaining the recognizable character of each variant.

Modern Tools, Original Intent

Using SolidWorks and advanced Bambu Lab printing systems, every component is engineered for precision, durability, and clean assembly.

Parts are designed to minimize support scarring and preserve surface detail, while different filaments and print strategies are used to replicate finish and wear directly in the material.

The goal isn’t perfection.

It’s authenticity.

Every build is made to order and crafted specifically for you. Current turnaround is approximately two weeks from the date of purchase.

The Work

What started as research turned into reconstruction.

What started as a single build turned into a system.

Every blaster is part of a larger effort to document and recreate the full lineage of the DL-44—across films, variants, and production changes.

Because this isn’t about making one blaster.

It’s about getting each and every version right.

And always

Be your own scoundrel
